Default Manasquan River Bluefish & Raritan Bay Fluke Report 6/8/18

Spent the morning throwing a SP minnow for bluefish in Manasquan River. Arrived at my first spot @7:30. Didn’t get my first fish until 7:50. Caught 3 more by 8:30. Nothing big, biggest about #4.5. What they lacked in size they made up with spunk as everyone must of had some tarpon genes in them as they all jumped and did some tail walking. Grabbed a bite to eat and headed to my second spot that I’ve been fishing all spring but alas no one was home and left after 45 minutes.

My son Jason joined me on a magic hour fluke trip in the late afternoon/early evening. By the end of a long first drift, I had 2 in the box to 20”s and Jason had 1. Second drift was just as long but I didn’t get a hit until the very end and that became my bingo fluke that taped out to 22.5”s and pulled the scale down to #4.43- good enough for the pool. Last two drifts were slow. Vast majority of the boats 16 keepers came on the first drift. Good short action with most in the 17-17.99 class. I only had one short but Jason had 7 or 8. A few fluke had some big mantis shrimp in them.
