Off to the Big D this morning in search of some mixed bag fishing. Started out around 9 am jigging for Eyes and Smallies but unfortunately nobody was home.
Made the switch to Catfishing around noon. The bite started out slow but then "BOOM", it happened. Here a Flathead, there a Flathead and then a double header Flathead. These 2 Invasive bastards hit about 15 seconds apart, good times!
So I'm reeling in the 1st fish from the double header, the other rod goes off. This is a much larger fish. I put the rod with the smaller fish in between my legs so I can play with the bigger fish. Head shakes, drag ripping runs, damn thing didn't want to come in. It wasn't the biggest Flathead by any means but man was she pissed. Once they see the sunlight they get really, really angry. Ok, so I land the big one! 32 inches or so, about 15 lbs! The other rod is still dancing between my my legs and I land them both without breaking anything. The other fish is around 27-28 inches and 8+ lbs give or take. Ya had to be there to see this freak show live. It was just comical trying to keep both rods under control without falling and splitting my head open on the jagged rocks, LOL! Good times!!!
Total fish for the trip was, 5 Flatheads, 2 @ 7-8 lbs, 1 @ 15 lbs possibly bigger, 2 cookie cutter Flatheads @ 3-4 lbs and 2 cookie cutter Channels that need to go grow some more! I didn't get much of a fight out of the Channels, silly little 2-3 lbers eating giant baits. What were you thinking?
All fish caught from 1-5 pm this afternoon! Action died when alot of jet boats came racing up and down the river for no apparent reason!

TIGHT LINEZ!!!
