Default Seabass Last Call

August 31st marks the end of the seabass season until the end of October. The fluke season closes on September 5th until next spring. What is everyone going to do? I'm just curious. There are porgies but porgies are not seabass or fluke. Fishing for them is like fishing for sunfish when there are no bass to catch. It's just not the same.

I feel for the captains who usually fish for bluefish and have had to settle for seabass and fluke to satisfy their customers. What will they fish for once September rolls around? Hopefully there will be a return to the good ol' days when false albacore and bonito filled the void but the likelihood of that happening is remote.

The draggers have to be smiling from ear to ear. Imagine how great they will feel about being able to drag all of the near-shore high pieces through all of September and October without having to spend extra money for fuel. They can fill their fluke trip quotas without having to go out of sight of land. We can all watch them fill their nets with fluke as we bend our rods on those 10" scup.
