Headed out early and just waited for the birds to start showing us where the fish were. It didn't take long. the first hour made from a pretty picky bite, with many short strikes, and on-off hook ups, but we still managed our perfect 28-29" keepers by 8am (even those landed fish were just barely lip hooked). After 8 there was a significant change in the bite and the fish started taking the swimbaits to the back of their mouths and we just started hooking and battling.
at around 10am the birds started moving around and we took a break to try some close blackfish spots. no luck on that so we switched back to the stripers under the birds and went right back to where we left off on a pretty good bite!
Still can't get them to hit a popper this year

but plenty of fish nuts on the swimbaits! 33 fish landed averaging 28-33" with just a couple of smaller ones and one really nice 37 incher cpr at the end that put one of the better fights i've had from a striper; better than a few 40 plus inchers. Took over 2.5 minutes to get to the net and really beat up the elbow tendinitis haha.
