1st frozen guides of the year = hungry eyes 11-12-16
Was dozing off last night and got a jolt around 1015 pm. Checked the temps, bundled up and off I went. 5 min into my drive had a headlight go out--sh*t. Auto zone on 18 is 24 hrs, quick detour and on my way.
Moon was at 94% full last nite. Had reservations about success but we fish first and question later, right? Slow rolled soft plastics from 1145 pm to 1 am. Had 5 or 6 strikes, 3 hook ups and 1 fish landed at 23". The one i landed inhaled the bait where just my knot was sticking out if its mouth. The 2 I dropped, one felt small the other made me sick to my stomach. Thought I hooked a Carp at first but then I clicked my lamp on and saw the quarter sized eyes. Shes was all of 27+" easy and violently thrashing and head shaking, taking line. My cumara was doubled over. Got her about 5' away and POOF! Shook free... some days it's chicken, some days it's feathers.
It was cold last night. Guides kept freezing. Feeling in my finger tips was a luxury lol. Old man winter is right around the corner. Here's the selfie. The fish I've been catching are portraying great coloration and overall average size has been significant. I'll keep at it until I can't take the cold nights...
