Since Monday was my only free night of the week, I decided to spend a little time chasing some flatties. My friend Darrell decided to join me. We got set up after dark, and began the wait for flathead cats. It wasn't long before my drag began to sing my favorite song. I.picked up the rod and came tight to the violent headshakes and stubborn fight of a nice flathead. It wasn't a huge fish, but was a nice one definitely in the double digits, probably around 14lbs. I grabbed the fish by the lower jaw and removed my hook, and noticed some line tangled around the fish's head and gills. The fish had recently taken another bait and broken off above the swivel. The hook was too deep to see so I didn't want to mess with it. I clipped the leader as close as I could to the hook and let her swim.
I had high hopes for the night but it wasn't meant to be. My friend had one run off and that was it. Couldn't stay very late due to work the next day. Still managed one nice fish.
