Default Big River walleye 7/18/16

Went out on whim last night for a quick river spell. Popped out of my coffin and jumped in the car...and off I went!

I rarely connect after deluge storms in a few of the areas I fish so my expectations were low. I just needed a few hours solo. Tied on a fresh leader and put my trusted plug on and ripped cast after cast for over an hour. Water was turbid and fast, but lots of bait everywhere.

I bomb a cast across a very wide pool, right on the edge of where the pool pours into fast moving Rapids. A few cranks and whammo! My plug got demolished in inches of water and the fish exploded upstream. Felt like a good one.

With higher, faster water I took my time getting her in. I slid her across a weed mat to my feet and all that was visible of my plug was the sampo clip and the clear plastic lip. This one wasnt coming unbuttoned lol.

Lift her under the belly and by the tail and carried her to my bag a few steps back. Grabbed the pliers, popped the plug out and taper her out...27" and faaaaat. A beautiful river walleye! Walked back to the water for a quick release and with one huge tail swipe she soaked me and disappeared into the murky water. Awesome.... left soon after without another hit. Fine by me!
