Surprise striper

Hit my local honeyhole last night to find a 6ft snake slithering by my favorite post....that said..a big no for hanging there. Also saw a bunch of mongo shads. Went down river casting and casting and switched to my goto lure and bam...miss...cast again...bam miss....slowed the retrieve a bit...wham! Miss wtf!...one last cast and whamo thought it was a decent smallie but was a gorgeous 12in little striper. Healthy release with a thankyoy girl and off it went into the darkness. 45 min and a striper...im happy...careful of the snakes guys a buddy of mine saw a 9ft plus pet that was released here but got away from him in a hole.
