Laaaaate night briddies on the Getanet II - 6/10 into 6/11/16
Got together last night with dale and jimmylivebait for a late night spell targeting hybrids. Launched at 1130 and arrived to an armada of boats with comparable thoughts in mind. Herring were quiet and explosions few and far between for hours.
I had a 20" fish early on but no additional action for about 2 hours. As other boats began slowly packing it in we kept grinding...casting and casting and casting endlessly.
We hit one spot that provided a flurry of action where 3 or 4 hybrids and a smallie were hooked, landing 2 brids and the bass. The bait activity and explosions began to intensify.
Doubled back to another area and the action was turned up significantly. With no other boats around we started to find more consistent action--strikes, missed hook ups, dropped fish and multiple linesiders landed on the boat. When all was said and done we had a decent night with 12 or 13 hybrids and a smallie brought to net and prob just as many strikes or dropped fish.
I finished with 7 or 8 hybrids to 23". Dale had 2 or 3 to 22" and the smallie. Jimmylivebait managed 2 to 22". It was a great night. Endless ball busting and joking from 1130 to 4 am. Good times fellas!
The bite is def getting later and later. Pretty much too late for week nite trips. Fat lady's coming!
