Yesterday my buddy and I decided to hit the river during the light rain to break in our new fly rods. The monsoon hit as we were en route and luckily let up just as we arrived at our destination. We were fishing a trout conservation area that's open year round but obviously it's C&R time until Saturday. I managed my first fish on my new Sage One 9' 5wt/Galvan combo on a dry as fish were hitting all over the surface on a big caddis hatch. It was an awesome watching the fish slapping up flies for a good 2 hours or so. We picked at them for a bit and caught about 5. Mud water then came flowing down stream to us and everything shut off. We decided to head to the Delaware after that to try for some eyeballs. We only ended up with one 18" fish just at dusk but it did break a long scoreless streak for me there. I caught the lone walleye on a X-Rap. All in all it was a great day considering I didn't think I'd get to fish at all due to the weather forecast.
