March 25th 2016 Striped Bass Report - Johnny Bucktails

Left the dock around 2pm to catch the end of the outgoing tide with my friend Christian. Only fished for about 3 hours until the tide stopped but we had good action fairly quickly. Took about 30 minutes to get them going but once we did it was game on. Hooked the fist hit that we had and popped him off before i got to see him. Minutes later i hooked another fish and we got him to the boat. First bass of the 2016 season hit the deck at 27 inches and was safely released. Missed a few more fish after that until i connected with a nicer one. Always fun on light tackle. Brought the fish into the boat for it to read 28 and a half inches on the tape. Missed two more fish before calling it a day. Was very pleased with the results and especially with all of the bait that is around. It is going to be a great season.
