Default 24 hours of fishing bliss

Exactly what it is

24 hours of pure fishing bliss.

Places fished: Spruce Run, Hopatcong, Budd Lake and finished of with some saltwater action.

Start: 6pm Friday and finished at 6pm Saturday

Spruce Run:
Fished from 830pm till 3am

Since I missed the last store to close to get some live bait was stuck with using everything else. Me and my friend got to Spruce around 830pm and pretty much had no love until midnight. Once midnight rolled around target fish (brids) started to feed. Multiple misses on hook ups but before it was over still managed to pull my first one of the year out. Good times and very mild and pleasant night.

Called up my other buddies who were heading out to Hopatcong and connected with them to get some bait

Hopatcong
Fished from 4am till 8am

Quiet night with fish mostly in slumber and like me sleeping of a hangover probably. Regardless still managed to hook up with a decent pickerel and lost 2 on chicken livers that I simply casted out for the fun of it. Never saw the fish lost but to speculate I would say in all probability will be some catfish.

Wind picked up so we moved to Budd Lake

Budd Lake
Fished from 9am till 12pm

Already both of us been up for over 24 hours and it was showing. Did not ventured out much just fished of the winter spots. That being said loosing my vigilance cost me dearly. My first hook up was a solid 4-5 lbs largemouth that I managed to loose right next to shore line. Frustration and anger got a hold of me and for a moment I though my rod would follow fish back in a water. Cooler heads prevailed so I fished on and was rewarded with a chunky perch making so far a 3 for 3 my fishing adventure.

Now was time to move for some saltwater adventure and to meet up with Eddy who kept on busting my balls about not having a smartphone with proper navigation tools. Little did he know that quietly I was plotting my revenge and it was going to be sweet.

Saltwater Stop
from 2pm till 6pm

After Eddy carefully guided us to fishing location that even Siri would have hard time doing we properly set up ........to prepare our meal of course. My almighty bag had managed to hold all our cooking gear and to work we went. Once Eddy showed up we were already in process of preparing our gourmet food. Lol. Turns out we still had to trek to get to sweet spot. Once again Eddy lived up to his reputation of treasure of knowledge about local spots and put us on some stripers almost immediately. With a right tide in our favor my buddy was fighting his first one almost within half hour of us setting up.

Short time later a shorty was landed and after a selfie released back.

Next two hours were spend with bite here and there but nothing was being hooked up. Being awake for over 30 hours already I decided to lay and get some rest on the beach. All of the sudden I see my rode bend and my rod holder being pulled from the sand bar. With a lighting sped that would shame Usan Bolt I ran to my spot before my rod took a trip in the ocean. Fight was one and short time later a fish that I thought was a bit short was landed and declared to be a keeper by the master himself. My revenge was fully complete now. I went 4 for 4 in all locations I fished and boy oh boy was it worth every hour of lost sleep.

My first keeper of the surf was finally landed not to mention being a first one of the year for me.

Eddy
