Mudhole 1/17 Report
Needed to get out for some bottom dwellers (well just really need to get out of the house) and the weather was just nice enough on Sunday to get out to the Mudhole on the 12 hour out of Brielle. Snowed sideways for about 4+ hours and we were in the same area as the other party boats from the same inlet.
Not crowded by any means and plenty of room both inside the cabin and on the rails. Fishing was pretty good for bending a rod. Fishing for meat was so so. I'm guessing 2 dozen cod and a couple ling. I think there was a misplaced tog but all the pout/eels and bergals you could raise up. Doggies were around as well. Some sea bass, not enough to curse out the government for closing it down. I did not see any porgy/blues get raised either.
Mate Ken was on top of his game as normal and Captain made a lot of wiggles and moves to spots to try and get us on some meat.
Good bunch of guys, in fact most were on the boat about 2-3 weeks ago so it was good to catch up again. I think that was it until the Spring Gulf of Maine fishing for me.
