![]() I just couldn't get over the frustration of missing those bigger fish last weekend and just had to give it one more shot.
Was going to head out on Saturday but the lake was an angry frothing ocean. Headed out on Sunday with my reliable fishing buddy Ongot. Had 3 other friends tell us they were too busy with house work to come along!! LOOOSSSEERRR! (Ace Ventura Voice) Got on the lake around noon, the wind was much stronger than predicted and had to deal with some white caps. Surface water temps were in the low 50's. A flotilla of kayaks were on the magical spot from last weekend so we drove around to a couple of other spots and finally marked some fish. Took a good 10 minutes in the 15 mph winds to get the anchor to stick near where I wanted to fish. Armed with 7' rods, size 40 reels and 12lb test we were ready for Mr. Hybrid! Within 5 minutes Ongot caught his first Hybird ever weighing just about 5lbs. Man was he stoked! ![]() I shortly followed up with this nice 5.5lber ![]() ![]() Ongot then caught the biggest hybrid out of my boat at 6.5lber which beat my PB from the week before. GRRR ![]() ![]() And then this 6lber. ![]() It was non stop. I couldn't even get my line down before Ongot would be hooked up again. Spent most of the first hour and half netting, weighing, and taking pictures! The karma finally paid off with my new PB Hybrid at 7.5#! Take that Ongot! ![]() ![]() We finished the day landing 33 hybrids (19 to 14, Ongot) with about a 4-4.5 lb average in under 5 hours. Most fish were in the 5lb range with a few smaller and larger ones mixed in. It got to the point where we weren't even excited about a 5lber anymore (spoiled sh*ts). All fish were released for other to enjoy. EPIC DAY!!!!! I now know why Chrisper calls them Snot Rockets. Man do they throw off some Ghostbuster's type slime. The boat and I were covered. I am officially going to have to join the H.A.A. The question now is do I pull the boat or try it one more time? I like the idea of finishing the open water season on a such a high note but my addictive personality will probably win over. Last edited by NJSquatch; 11-18-2015 at 06:57 PM.. |
