Default Sun/Labor Day at Baccardi - 90+ lb Wahoo

Met a friend and ran out of Manasquan Sunday morning (initially to Hudson) on his 31 Rampage Contingsea. Loaded with butters, sardines, ballyhoo, etc.

After wasting an hour at Hoffman's with some dimwit who ran into the RR bridge we ran into 4-5 foot swells bunched up. Semi comfortable at 15 knots.

We began to troll about 10 miles from Baccardi after seeing pods of bait fish being smashed here and there. Less then 10 minutes after the lures hit the water BAM!!! 72 inch monster Wahoo. Wouldn't fit in the cooler so off to the Canyon bag. First one I ever caught. Thought to bleed it and nothing happened. Gutted it and tossed the bag whole.

Plan changed. its almost sunset and almost 30 miles from the West Wall. SO Baccardi it is.

Overnighted Baccardi with a handful of other boats on the chunk. BLUES SHARKS on and off all night. Nothing else. Can up chunk slick circling a 6 footer circling the boat... Dawn bite was like being stood up at your prom.

Began a slow troll back about 10am Monday morning. About hour in, a knock down. A trolled up Dusky shark? WTF!! Then another knock down. NADA.

Head back in a conditions turn head sea again. Like walking up hill both ways. 3- 5's near Manasquan Inlet and 15-20 knots out of South. .

Big start and a fizzled out ending.

From these other after action reports here.... we didn't miss a thing at the Canyon
