Budd (Dud?) Lake 9-6-15
I decided to give Budd Lake a try this morning figuring that it would have the least amount of pressure of any of the lakes on the holiday weekend. Talked to two other guys out fishing in their boats and they all said the same thing, they haven't been there in a long time but figured it was the best place to be left alone by the crazies that are undoubtedly out on the other lakes.
Haven't fished Budd this year and now I remember why. Launched at about 615 this morning. Got halfway across the lake and the water was just exploding around me with baitfish. Figured I'd start there, but caught nothing. Throughout the morning baitfish were hitting the surface everywhere, at times it seemed like the water was boiling...but it was all baitfish.
Had one hit the entire morning on a senko and that was it. Came off the water about 10 am. On the way out I talked to the old guy at Docks Marina and asked if he had any tips for fishing Budd...he told me to bring hand grenades.
I'm thinking there's just so many baitfish in there that the fish aren't really that desperate for food. Seem like a reasonable theory? Its probably a good sign for the future of the lake but made for a crappy morning.
