Got a LAST SECOND split charter in today (Mike F's group of 3 and Mike B's group of 3) - we were originally planning to go off today but the forecast wasn't too friendly for that so it was good to have 2 groups that wanted to fluke fish.
Ocean was nice. Ran down to where we've been catching and had a very picky bite early - but got a couple of nice keepers right away followed by a lot of shorts. Hopped around, only catching shorts thereafter.
We then made a little move to the north - more shorts. Out to the snags to the east - MORE SHORTS.
Finally around 1:30 I decided to run back inside to fish the 60-70' depths and we finally got a bite going with much more aggressive fluke and some nicer fish mixed in. Did 4 long drifts, and picked at keepers on every drift as well as loads of shorts.
Wound up with 10 keepers to 23", as well as ~100 shorts. Those last 90 minutes partially saved the day for us, as the guys were able to catch some fish and actually had a few nice fillets to take home for a fish fry. (Sorry for the crappy basket pic
)
