I have done very little fishing over the last month or so. Family vacation, personal issues, uncooperating weather and whatever else. Since fluke season opened I did one trip with Joey da fish and one scheduled charter in montauk. Well that's about to change.
Took the dirtyshrimp out with Doug and Chris (Icfos, I Can Fish On Sunday's). Very interesting start to the day to say the least. As always we stopped at Atlantic bait and tackle to load up for a long day on the water. We then finally make it to the marina, load the boat and get ready. I ask Doug to take the Bimini cover off and a billion ants hit the deck with their larve

, open the top and a million more! It took us 45 minutes to take the top off, unload the whole boat and hose down the boat. Damn it was gross! Reload and reinstall top and finally get in line to launch.
Spoke with a well known captain the night before ( you know who you are, and thanks) and decided to go east. First drift first cast I drop a fish, recast and look over to see Doug into a fish, then I get slammed. Chris nets dougs 19 incher then I say untangle it quick. Chris was right there to net my first of the day, close to 5 lbs. I sfart thinkin its gonna be a great day as my next cast a get slammed again get her halfway up and dropped it. We started to loose the drift but we're still picking. I decided to make the long run back to the SH channel to finish the day. The current started to rip and we went to seek calmer waters. Passed Joey on the way in and did a drift with him on his numbers just to put a smile on his face.
By the end of the day Chris had four in the box. I had four and Doug boxed one and a biscuit.
Long fun day on the water with friends old and new. Nice to finally post a report.
