Sunday flukin on the shrimp
After looking at the doom and gloom forecast dirty chimney man and I decided to ignore it and go anyway. I'm glad we did. Doug hasn't been out since the Eisenhower administration and needed to wet a line before the season ends. We started in the channel and had a pretty good pick of shorts with the very occasional keeper. Doug was happy with this but I wanted some bigger fish. We headed south, passed the fleet and found a spot all by ourselves. Ran into the same situation. Tons of catching, very little keeping. Made a move offshore and had lights out fishing for the next hour. Doug ended up with the yo dolla dolla and four keepers and I ended up with the biggest which I once again kissed and released. We had the ocean to ourselves and it was like pee on a plate calm.
Fished til four and decided we had enough. Beautiful ride home, didn't see another boat the whole way up. Great day for a day I almost stayed home.
