Labor Day PM on the Dorothy B
Decided last minute to join my son and his girlfriend for the pm trip. Grabbed a change of clothe, 3 rigs and an empty cooler and jumped in car less than 10 minutes after deciding to go.
Surprised by lack of traffic, was able to stop at Atlantic Bait for some smelts and squid plus a few more rigs and ice. Hit a deli for some sandwiches from the worlds slowest sandwich maker and got to the boat @ 1:15. Counted 5 poles on the port side of the Dorothy B when we pulled in and figured our 3 will give him enough to sale which was right. I give the Capt plenty of credit, he sailed with 9 fares. Not only that, he rounded the hook and headed down the beach, traveling further than any of the other 1/2 day boats. He moved looking for fish, he power drifted trying to keep the boat straight when the South wind starting blowing against the tide Mate Matt was great, was always there when needed. Fishing slow, boat only had 3 keepers for the day, probably 50 - 60 throw backs if not more. Bucktailers were slower, but did have 2 of the 3 keepers Nice day on water, watched a squall line pass to the north and south but we had good weather all trip Don't know why people would be crowed on the other boats when this one was wide open and all fished the same general areas. Top notch effort on a slow day |
