Manasquan Inlet-Pt. Pleasant Wall Fluke Report 8/24
Did some recon work yesterday and observed a nice pull of fluke (albeit all shorts except for a lone 18.1"s keeper) from the Fisherman's Monument east to the rocks. Did notice one stretch that seemed to produce a little better & that is where I set up today.
Arrived early into the outgoing tide and it was cast & catch fishing for the first 60+ minutes. The bite slowed to a pick midway through the tide and picked up again slightly as the tide was almost bottomed out. Fluke ranged from 10-17.7/8"s. My son arrived late but was able to land 2 shorts fluke before switching over to live lining killies for snappers on his ultra light outfit. Did not witness any keepers caught but those who had some clue as to what they were doing seemed to catch at least a few. Single killie on a 1/0 octopus hook with a 24-30" light leader was the ticket. Used 2 ounces of lead most of the time but did bump it up to 3 when the tide was moving. In addition to the fluke, I also had a #3 stargazer.
