Reel Class Saturday 7/5 Fluke Report
Had Fred and his brother Larry charter the boat today. Along with them they brought Fred's boys sam and Larry Jr, Larry Flukemaster (Larry X 3) and Carl.
Ocean was flat calm when we broke the inlet at 6:15 and stayed that way all day - NO SWELL. NW wind was CRANKING for most of the day, limiting where we could fish, but that is what it is!
Flew to the first area and didn't have a bite for almost 45 minutes, but the first bite was a nice 5.45# fluke taken by Sam. We picked a couple here and there then made a few more moves, and had similar action. We made a load of "drops," each spot picking at least a few fish and getting a keeper here and there. No one spot was real good, we were just hopping around to different #'s and pounding the bottom.
For the day 9 "made it" as well as 2 seabass which were barely 12.5" keepers. Larry, Fred, and Larry Flukemaster were HH with 2 keepers each. All of the fish we kept were nice fish, in the 19-23" range. All fish were caught on hooked on bucktails and gulp with bunker or squid strips. Long day, tough fishing, but the guys got a few for the box!
