Mahi and Mako----
Modified: 6/29/2014
Today was a blast, Chris and Milt wanted to catch a mako so we ran offshore early this morning. After some uneventfull trolling we set up our shark rods and no sooner did we get the baits out , a large mahi tackles a shark bait. We get this 20 lb bull in the boat and then his cow shows up. We go two for two getting her in the box, when Milt goes looking for number three with a spiinning rod and a little tuna hook. As he drifts his bait back from the boat, Mr Mako shows up and grabs this little chunk of bunker. Milt did a great job of working this fish for a half hour, but there was only 40 lb mono to the hook and the line got smoked and popped. Things were pretty quiet for a few hours and then Chris got his chance when another reel started screaming. Chris was able to work the fish right up to the boat and then it came unbuttoned and Mr. Toothy took off for parts unknown !@#$%. I was getting a little frazzeled at this point. Again we get the lines reset and at 2:00 our whistle fish showed up. Milt was able to work the mako up to the boat, I gave her a 12 gauge sedative and we were able to head home. These are great trips and I can't wait to do it again ! Tight Lines --Rich
