FISH TANK - Tues 6/17 Report and Wed 6/18 "Reel Time" Update
First and foremost, we would like to thank Blackfish Doug for posting his report from Monday's trip. We can't wait to see you again next week!
Capt. Tommy and I hosted yet another open boat bottom fishing trip yesterday with a great crew consiting of Keith, his son Kevin, Buster, Buzzy, Kevin and his gf Cheryl. 3 Kevin's on one boat, it doesn't get much better than that!
Anyways, the fishing was on the slower side compared to the past few trips. Every drop had fish, but not exactly the kind of drop and reel action we were hoping for. The good news is that the fish being brought up didn't have to be measured. What we lacked in #s we made up for with some really nice knuckleheads, a good showing of ling and even Buster put a nice winter flounder in the box. It might have had something to do with the S wind cranking every bit of 20kts eventhough the weather man said it would only be 5-10, but it is what it is. We did our best putting the crew ont top of the fish and by the end of the day, they managed to box up a respectable catch despite the unfavorable conditions. A good time was had by all and everyone had smiling faces and big bags of fillets as they left the dock.
I spoke with Tommy this morning around 10am and once again, the weatherman blew the forecast...suprise, suprise! So much for a W wind 10-15kts, he said it was blowing close to 25kts and with a strong northerly current, anchoring wasn't the easiest. Despite that, he already had over 40 keeper sea bass on board for a rather inexperienced crew (with the exception of Keith who decided to have a double dose of the "Tank" between yesterday and today). Still waiting to hear about the final tally and I'm hoping that Capt. Ed took some pics to share. We'll keep you posted.
Tight Lines!
~Capt. Kevin
