Thumbs up Live-lining Striper roadtrip to Queens

Tried to convince my brother Richie and my childhood best-friend visiting from California to come to NJ for some live-lining. I was out-voted and had to travel back to my home-town of Flushing NY for some live lining. I was skeptical because Flushing is not exactly a well-known port. We left out of the World's Fair Marina just behind Citifield. (Since NJFishing.com has no NY party boat sponsors I'll name the operation - Never Enuff. (If this is inappropriate Gerry, please mask the name.))

This operation runs 3 boats - a 56' Party Boat that makes a daily 3/4 day trip + a nightly trip, & 2 nice Down'easters for Charter. We were disappointed to see that we were the only 3 fishermen that showed up today and thought we would get turned away. You can't imagine how surprised we were when Captain (owner) Nick said let's jump on the smaller boat & go with just 3 !! And let's forget chunking, let's go live-lining. Wow - we paid Party Boat fares and had a 3-man private charter

We made bait in one throw of the huge cast-net, just steps outside the marina. When we hit the LI Sound Captain Nick made a right and headed East. Two weeks ago my brother did well on a daytime trip with them where they headed west and fished Hells Gate & NY Harbor by the Statue of Liberty during Fleet Week, putting on a show for the many foreign vessels that were visiting.

Today we steamed past my old haunts - Little Neck Bay, Steppingstone Light, Kings Point, Prospect Point, Manhasset Bay - and wound up fishing by Execution Rock. The action in the Sound has been good and has lasted longer than usual, because Stripers are still coming out of the still-cold Hudson River. It's rare for CAptain Nick to still be fishing for Stripers in June and it was a memorable day fishing with my brother and best friend. The three of us grew up together fishing, and I have fished with both of them thru the years, but this was the first time that the 3 us got out together in 40 years Catching was just a bonus

I haven't got all the pix yet, but the one below is my brother Richie from 2 weeks ago. And to all you NJF'ers scratching your heads, NO - I'm the OLDER brother
