Slow stripers May 26 but first keeper on the new boat
Shake down cruise on the new boat today. Broke inlet a little after 5am with friends John, Brittany and Kevin. Three throws of net by John and live well was filled. Set up be ourselves off the pods a little north and I was lucky enough to have first run off. Landed the first keeper striper a little before 6am - she was only a little over 30lbs but bloodied deck on the new boat for first time so was a special fish. We were now expecting big things - not to be. That was our only bite as lots of boat traffic sealed our fate.
Those who know me know I'm itching to fluke so off we went further north into the shallows but not to be today. Only bite was a sea robin. Water temps never got above 56 so ocean fluking in deep where I like it not there yet...
Good news is boat is everything I'd hoped she'd be and was lucky enough to get my first keeper and spent a nice morning with friends. Better days ahead....hope everyone had a great holiday. Al
