South Branch Trout Beat Down
Even though the water is still high, it's clearing up nicely. I decided to fish a stretch that normally is way too shallow. Right place, right time. The trout were right in the fast water as I predicted. I caught them using butterworms and a very large split-shot. I couldn't get any hardware to stay in the water deep enough or long enough because of the fast current. That'll work in a couple of days when the water recedes. No insect life or surface action today. I had to leave early because I went through fifty butterworms in two hours.
