Default 1/19 fishin the bottom

Itching to get out me and my buddy Willie hit the parkway by 4:45 destination Brielle. We pulled into the lot, the Jamaica II was dark, and the Paramount had 6 including us. Waited until 6:30 for 4 more to show up(least they would sail with) but it just didn't happen. Plan B, cross the bridge for the the 7:30 bottom boat. By 7:30 had to be 25 on the boat and away we went. Seas were flat calm as we broke the inlet on course for the Azores. Captain must have seen a lot of action on his screen because we pulled up short of the Azores, about 12 miles east of the inlet. Dropped the anchors and we were immediately into a mad dog Bergall bite. As I fought my way through the tap, tap, taps, my first 3 fish I hit the trash fish trifecta better known as the Philly Daily Meal Plan. (Dogfish, Silver Eel, and a Pout). With that out of the way, now I could concentrate on the intended species. Fought off the Bergalls all day(as well as the South of the border guy next to me with the 9' spinning outfit and a 2 ounce pyramid sinker on a slide rig) to box 3 ling and a sculpin.

All in all it was a beautiful day, laughs galore, met some real nice people, and the Captain did move around and tried hard to find the fish.

There were plenty of throwback species to keep engaged. I guess the bright side is if I bring home fish a little at a time, I'll just have to spend more time on the water.
