Rvr 1/11/14
Hit RVR with GetANet on 1/11/14. Scooped shiners at Behre's and fished from shore. @ the 1st spot our efforts were crippled by the Bering Sea ice floes that oddly embraced the shoreline we initially targeted. The 2-3" thick slabs of loose ice hindered our shiners on slips bobbers, dragging them from right to left as our lines got caught up on pieces. They were also clanging like nature's largest wind chime. We called an audible and moved to the other side of the boat cove. First few casts showed promise as Dale was slowly retrieving one of his lines. He says "Whoa...Look at that trout!" A solid 20+" brown was trailing his shiner, gave it a sniff, and moseyed on. For a while after that we swung and missed multiple fish before the winds started cranking and the sky opened up. I had a nice rainbow on for a minute and pulled the hook as it rolled on the surface. We prob missed 5 or 6 shots at fish--but that's how it goes sometimes. No hard hits. Most were light nibbles where the slips would go under and pop right back up. The runoff created by the downpours muddied the water in the area we were fishing which seemingly shut the bite down. We were out of there by 12:30. Good times nonetheless--especially as the air temps hovered in the high 40s and the wind was balmy.
We'll get em' next time... Catch em' up!
