Looking at the weather forecast for the rest of the week myself and a few other choice anglers just had to make an executive decision. MENTAL HEALTH DAY!!! Met up with ScowardNJ at the ramp around 1030 this morning. Launch the boat to bluebird skies and absolutely no wind. Set up on a few spots and the bite is non existent. Then I get a text from SkunkCity wondering what we were catching and stating that he was on his way up. The answer on what we were catching was ZERO. But a minute after that text, Scott hooks a BIG WALLEYE, he's all fired up. Gets the fish to the boat and it's a good 25+ inch fish and FAT. I'd have to say it was an easy 6.5-7lbs. Skunk jumps aboard around 12:45. We do a lot of searching and aren't finding much. Rob had quite a few short strikes that never came tight. AHHHHHHHHH, BUMMER!!!! So we search some more and finally I hook up with fish, YEA BUDDY, my first ever GWL Walleye! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to have finally caught a Walleye out of this lake!!! My hands were actually shaking. 4th times a charm. The fish wasn't huge but an honest 23.5 inches and around 4.5-5lbs. These fish are fat this time of year fellas. Some of you have no idea.
Anyway, that would be it for the day, 2 Walleye! Its all good. Scotts fish happens to be his PB Walleye and only the 2nd he's ever caught. My fish, well, I finally popped my GWL Walleye cherry!!! I'm as happy as a PIG IN SHIT!!! Great to fish with you fellas today, hopefully its not the last VOYAGE of the season.
TIGHT LINEZ!!!
