Default New reel

Ok everyone here is the skinny! I want to go shark fishing on my boat this year but don't want to spend a ton on gear! I can only travel about 25 miles offshore due to fuel capacity. Canyon reels offer serious drag for the size reel and I could use these reels for tuna and cod also! So question is, does the canyon reel offer enough drag to play with a shark? Keep in mind that I will not be entering tournaments so a lost fish here and there is no big deal! Thanks in advance
