Default Insane Tuna Trip 9/19-9/20

Thursday 9/19 we left the dock at 9:30am for a fun trip on Capt Rich K's 36' Yellowfin. Crew consisted of Capt Rich, Steve, Capt Max, Darren and myself. Arrived at the big drop off thingy around noon and set out the spread. Trolling for 2hours and we all say this is boring wow why are we here.... BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! 4 Big Eyes on, after a little while, 4 Big Eyes Dead on the boat! Jumbos ranging around 175-200lbs. Back on the troll and pretty quick a BIG knockdown but never came tight. Set up on the chunk with life all over. Read some fish, played with some mahi, caught and release a mako approximately 50". Made move so me and Darren took a nap. In no time the boys were screaming "get up, get the gaffs!" All 3 of them were on nice yellowfin. Me and Darren got them in the boat and started dropping jigs. GAME ON! The tuna were loaded under the boat, eating almost anything you drop in. An hour or so later, 8- 50-60lb yellowfin are dead. Our boat was completely packed with tuna leaving no more storage at all. 5:30am Friday, we headed home.

All the tuna were caught on all kinds of AVET Reels. 30s, 50s, T-RX 50s, Jx Raptors, Hx's, etc. All with ease. The new Black Hole Cape Cod rods are insane as well. Can't believe how light and strong they are. The Reel Seats Red Head Spreader bars did some Big Eye damage too.

It's all about quality tackle, Rigging and a good (anal) Captain (Rich), you almost can't lose fish on his boat. Another great trip once again!

Capt Kris
