Default Canyon Runner MA500 Winner - Capt. Mark Wins Top 50 Captain - Couple Spots Open

What has been our best canyon season to date got a lot better last week when Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Dean Lambros put Jackson Hsieh into a 243 pound big-eye in the Washington Canyon on Thursday and ended up holding on to WIN the Mid-Atlantic $500,000 with the biggest tuna. They also won all three port Calcutta spots by adding a second big-eye on Thursday and a third on Friday. Totally winnings were $191,000 – nice job guys!

The big-eyes were taken while trolling our Canyon Runner squid dredges and hookless Canyon Runner spreader bars as teasers to raise them to the pattern.

That combination has raised approximately 150 big-eyes to our pattern this year. And in addition to the 3 big-eyes caught during the MA500 our boats were busy the week prior and this weekend adding more big-eyes to the books – we now have a total of 71 big-eyes caught this year !!!

Recent trips include the Chris Iavorone charter with 4 big-eyes on the 60 Ritchie with Capt. Phil Dulanie and Craig Angelini this past weekend and 20 big-eyes in just one week in the Hudson the week before the MA500.

Finally – just a special shout out to Capt. Mark DeBlasio who not only won top dollar on tuna in this year’s MA500 – but has now gone back to back years with top dollar winnings in a major tournament as he did just that in 2012 in the White Marlin Open tuna category winning close to $300,000. All this, on top of the fact that he was just named by Saltwater Sportsman as one of the Top 50 charter boat captains. We are all just honored to win that as the competition is fierce with hundreds of great captains around the world to compete with.

With this great fishing you MUST get offshore – whether on your own boat or by chartering someone – we just never seen big-eye fishing like this – EVER.

We actually have one spot on the 48 Viking available this weekend if interested – its Saturday-Sunday and the cost is $750. We also have a single open boat spot on the 60 Ritchie next week and the full boat September 3-4. Please call if interested – 732-272-4445.
