Chasin'tail 8/4 Solo Thresher Trip

Had a few guys back out late the night before an a no show who didn't mean to sleep in the morning of.. with the bait and rods ready to go i decided i would take matters into my own hands and head out in search of my first thresher on the boat. Talked to a buddy when i got out there and he had already released one so my hopes were high.. sat around most of the day until finally around noon i got the bite.. did battle with a nice fish for awhile that took a bait 80ft down, keeping the boat in gear the entire fight i was able to keep him right off starboard side of my controls the whole fight..My new JCT Custom Stand Up Rod and Avet 50w was unreal as it let me really put the heat to the fish while not destroying my back as the rod seemed to take most of the abuse...first time he came to leader he ripped away ..fought it for another 15 minutes or so before the next shot.. Put rod in gunnel..grabbed leader.. had him swimming calmly next to the boat ..reached to my left grabbed the flier. stuck him an reach to my right for my straight gaff which i stuck back near the tail . tied off the flier grabbed my tail rope an it was game over.. was pretty excited after all said an done it was a nice rush
