Thumbs up Reel Class Tuesday 7/23 Fluke Limit - Excellent Fishing!

Had Stephen, Alex, Pete M, John O, Dave, and Ed onboard today for a FTYP trip. Nasty weather with lightning thunder and crazy downpours greeted us at the dock but we got outta the slip a few minutes late and were underway running up the beach by 630.

First drop we had a few quick shorts one near-miss, but that was it. Tried some different areas about 2 miles off but really got no bite going. We then went further up the line and set up on a rockpile and had immediate action with short and keeper fluke as the wind switched from light SSW to W. First 4 drifts we picked 3-5 keepers per drift on this spot, and the action at times was real good as we had 2-4 guys hooked up at a time either with shorts or keepers.

We continued to pick there until we lost the drift, so we then bounced around to different rockpiles and picked a few more here and there. By 1:30 the light S wind got us drifting again so we went back to where we started and finished off the crew's limit with a few more nice keepers topped by Alex's 6# fish.

We had an excellent day. The crew boated ~100 fluke, 32 of which were keepers which was the crew's limit +2 as well as 3 knucklehead seabass (one legit 3#er) and 1 ling. Alex had 8 or 9 keepers, Pete wound up with 8 or 9 also, Steve had 7 and the rest of the guys put their share in the box as well. Big fish went to Pete who had a 6# 10 oz. fish, but Alex's 6# fish even was real close. We also had several fish in the 3-5# class, one of which was swung over the bowrail by a Reel Class crewmember who literally dove on the fish once it got unhooked and frisbee'd it through the window. Impressive!

Great day, with a great crew!!!
