Thumbs up Reel Class Tuesday 7/16 Fluke Report

Had a FTYP trip today with Joe, Mike, Fred, and Larry. Ran north to start where we heard there were some fish caught yesterday but found very dirty water and a lot of current. Nevertheless we bounced around but never found any form of a bite with the exception of some short fluke and some trash fish.

Ran back south to try where we had a few on Sunday, but again found more of the same conditions and fishing.

Continued working our way back, and finally found cleaner water and more fluke in the 20-40' range. Got into some shorts, but didn't land our first keeper until 11:28AM right in on the beach in 20' of water - crazy. That quick bite we had in on the beach dried up, so we headed offshore to fish some rough stuff and finally found some nice quality fish.

First rockpile we hit we had 3 quick, nice keepers topped by a 4.5# by Larry, then we kept slowly working our way around bfishing different rockpiles and we continued to pick away VERY slowly at nice keepers and some shorts.

By 4 it was death valley hot so we headed back for the barn. Wound up with 14 keeper fluke to 4.5#, 4 ling, and 1 keeper seabass - Fred as always had his limit (6 keepers total) and Larry had the big fish at 4.5#. Considering the very tough start, we finished up strong, but fishing is still very much a grind.
