Long Shot RBAC Fluke Tourniment
Fished yesterday on the Long Shot in the RBAC tourney with some of my oldest friends. Been fishing with a couple of these guys for 30 years. Left the dock in fog and rain only to turn the Hook into a steady 3-5 chop. This eased when we got south of the Hook. The damage was done however as my buddy Bob and I where green as they get. Bulled our way through it long enough to win the money boxing the first and what turned out to be the biggest fluke for us that day, at 4 just a little shy of 5 pounds. By about noon seas settled and the drift was great. Ended the day with 20 sea bass to 3 pounds and 12 dandy fluke. There were only two we had to measure the rest were all in the 3-4 pound range. Used a variety of baits and buck tails. Hot rig was a light blue Spro on top 3/8 OZ with squid and a white 4 OZ Spro with Gulp on the bottom.
Spoke with a friend of mine who fished Ambrose all day and they ended the day with 2 keepers 3-4 pounds.
The winner of the tourniment was 7.73 pounds which oddly enough was the weight of our fish last year that won us third place.
Thanks to Pete and his crew at Atlantic Bait & Tackle for the buck tails and some true tourniment sized killies. Thanks also to Captain Chris on the Long Shot. He made a real real long run to get to the fish. He said it was worth the ride and he was right. Great day on the water all the way around.
