Thumbs up Last Minute Trip

A buddy got out of work a little early today and had just got his first yak, so we fished. We launched around 5 PM with a manageable east wind blowing the length of the lake. With my buddy safely aboard his new mount we proceeded to work the exposed side of the lake. At our first stop I landed my first rocket on what was to become the lure of the day, a bluegill patterned Rapala. At 19 inches it was not only a surprise but a great fight! Another little bit later my bud hooked up with a bluegill. Resisting the urge to liveline it was also released. Rowing into the wind we worked our way along the shoreline, looking for fishy looking environs. After setting up on the third spot I hooked up with yet another pickerel! Much fatter than the first it measured nearly the same. Also a great fight with an aerobatics display worth remembering, not to mention that the fish got into the anchor line and while maneuvering to work it back under the line the clamp on my swivel seat let loose and nearly dumped me into the lake! Hooked up with a decent bass one spot change later with my now yak-friendly accomplice picking off two pickerel for himself. Two and a half hours of great fishing and weather was made perfect when the wind finally laid down. We took a few more casts at some big swirls we saw on the trip back but no joy. Next up, Propspertown, just to do some exploring/re-acquainting. Weather looks great for tomorrow, go get 'em!
