Fishing the Hudson River Striped Bass Derby this weekend with a weigh in station at Great Kills. Trolled this morning between Old Orchard and Round Shoal. Had a nice bite going with a fish @ 21 pounds and lost a big fish right next to the boat. Smart fish. Swam toawrds boat and spit the plug last minute. Ran over to Romer for the tide change and had a nice pick of fish to 20 pounds. Not enough for first right now as the leading fish is around 35 pounds. Will be out again in morn. PS. Kept the 2 20 pound fish alive for a nice release after weigh in.
