Hit the river today from 1130-7, thankfully I didn't have to make myself work another full weekend. Water temp on the best river in NJ is around 44-45 south of 78. No Shad yet, although its been said that some are in the river at Frenchtown and south. Fished jigheads with twister tails, tipped with Shiners and Crawlers all day. No hits until 3 this afternoon, 1st fish of the day, an energetic Channel. Little guy measured 22 inches and fought like hell. No more hits until around 5, Smallie BONANZA, got 4 Smallies in an hour. Average size was 12-15 inches with 1 MONSTER coming in at 19.5 inches. This fish is estimated to be close to 4 lbs. The channel will go around 4 as well. Great day on the water, got a nice sunburn on the face today. No Shad, but there were guys out there searching. No Eyes today either but definitely a great day on the water for me. I enjoyed every minute being out there. TIGHT LINEZ!!!
