Default Striper Lures

Since we're all dressed up with nowhere to go, how about some thoughts on the "proper" use of some lures?

I bought a few Ron Z's late in the year, first time using an eel type lure. They swim unbelievably great but had no luck with it even though others were catching using metal. Figured I was doing something wrong with it. Any particular method work best with these?

Krocs. Seemed every bass that hit my kroc did it on the way down or not at all. Steady retrieve? Bounce it? Very slow retrieve?

Had my best success using a plain 67 with a very slow retrieve.
