![]() After many weeks of getting blown out by the weather, me and brother Joe finally got to sea trial the 2000 28 Carolina Classic we've had a deal pending on for almost 2 months now. Our surveyor Sean really put her through the paces and she passed with flying colors.
We left Lanoka Harbor in a stiff WNW wind blowing in the 20's. The twin Crusader 6.0 375 horse inboards pushed her along at 38 knots at WOT. Cruise speed was decent too at around 27 knots and she jumped up on plane pretty quickly. The get up and go exceeded our expectations for a 15000 pound deep v tub. Seems like she'd pass anything but a fuel dock ![]() Mechanically shes close to a 10 since the engines, transmissions and all running gear were replaced back at the Carolina Classic factory at the end of 2011 and they only have 40 hours on them. The hull is very solid and in great shape for a boat of her age. Cosmetically she's a 7 but nothing some elbow grease, compound, wax, a few friends and a case of beer won't take care of. Next steps, windlass install, compound, wax, bottom paint and engine oil and we should be good to go. Glad to be out with the old and in with the new and looking forward to getting her provisioned and in ship shape for the season.
