My son had an early tee-ball game today so no early fishing for me this weekend with mothers day tomorrow so decided to take him out to the swimming lake at RVR this afternoon.
On his second go with the new rod I got him he was casting it out himself like a pro and very shortly hooked into his first fish off his own cast and managed the only LMB between the 2 of us. Great day, really awesome to see him land his first fish on his own all of which was his doing. He was using a 6" inch plastic worm on a 1/4 oz shaky head jig.
His photo skills were not quite up to his angling skills on display today as evidenced by the picture of the lone pickerel I caught on the day on a tube. Beautiful fish, shame he didn't catch the whole thing in the picture before it shook itself loose for a release but I think he was still jazzed for getting that feeling of that bite when you don't expect it.
