Thumbs up 2 Day Penns Creek trip :

Friday afternoon was travel time, did the 4 hour drive and met up with Wilson at the house we rented. We had Lard drop out at the last minute but Wilson and I decided to go anyway with the weather window and stream conditions running perfect. We had a four bedroom 2 bathroom house rented for the low price of $109.00 a night. Got settled in and went over to the club I belong to for a big prime rib dinner, soup, salad, and dessert was only $15.00 each.
We got up early and hit a restaurant a few towns away for a big breakfast knowing it was going to be a long day on the water. We left there and left one car downstream near Weikert and we drove upstream to Coburn. After all my planning and looking at Google Earth I miscalculated the starting point and we ended up fishing an area of Penns Creek that I had never seen before, this was only my second time going out there and fishing this river. We got on the water a little after 8am and our guides on our rods were freezing up a bit. Fished an amazingly beautiful stretch of water till we found our way point around 3 in the afternoon, after that it was another 3 mile walk to the car. We caught all sorts of brown trout along the way.
Tired and hungry it was back to the club for another steak dinner.
Sunday we ate breakfast around 9 am and got on the water near Weikert around 10am or so and started catching a mix of browns, brooks, and rainbows. We fished there for a few hours and went back up to Coburn and caught some more browns in an area where Pine Creek and Elk Creek merge to form Penns Creek. Fished till around 2pm and headed for home.
All and all a great time fishing. Every run, pool and tail out held fish, it was up to us to try to catch them, they are VERY smart trout up there. The whole area is frozen in time. I saw so many Amish horse and buggies along with beautiful farmland. Also the whole time on the water we only saw 3 other anglers.
