Default insane tuna bite, with a side of cow stripers and bottom fishing

Experienced the most insane tuna fishing i've ever seen in NJ... rivaled cape cod honestly. I wish i was more experienced and could've taken better advantage of the anarchy, but I had a few and the boat filled every inch of cooler space with yellow fin. Could've caught them out there on any means you preferred... jig, popper, chunk.... crazy midday action!

On a separate trip, I headed out with John to bottom fish. On the way out we started seeing birds hovering and slowed down and started marking the big girls... deployed the jigging spoon and hooked up quickly. fought it for a few seconds and the leader popped. hard not to blame a faulty knot, but i tested it pretty good.... might've rubbed on something idk, but as always, i was pissed haha. strapped on another one and did battle with two more hogs (42" and 45") before the boat traffic really shut them down and we moved on the the seabass.

Seabass were picky but we tapped away at them and put together a catch of 15 keepers on jigs and john with a bonus big triggerfish. we also had some tiny puffers and a rogue chub mackerel.
