It's a pretty cool time of year. You can go trout fishing in the morning and then go to beach in the evening and go surf fishing for striped bass. I couldn't do this in North Carolina, well I could but it would be a 6 hour drive from when I landed a trout to the time I got to the beach.
A few trucks driving the beach this evening in Seaside Park. One group set up bait rods to my left, looked like one skate after another from what I could see. I did the bait thing for many years but threw in the towel after catching countless skates and dogfish all night. Sure you got a bass every now and then and it was very relaxing, but I find you can do really well in the fall on lures. Bait works very well in March and April when the water is cold, the fish are lethargic and food is scarce.
Only plugged for an hour, I did snag a very small bluefish, so I didn't get skunked
Hopefully I can hit it a few more times this week, supposed to switch around to the North East this weekend with a storm offshore coming up the coast.
