Explored new water yesterday and had another free morning today, so I decided to do the same thing! Explored some new spots looking for wild trout. Took me quiet awhile to find them today, probably went to 6-7 spots along the stream before I found anything.
Walked up to the first really good looking hole and thought "Oh yeah, theres a trout in here." Took a cast and saw a nice brown swipe at my spinner, i jigged it once and he hammered it again and I netted the first nice fish of the day.
Kept hopping around from spot to spot looking for more holes that looked like that first one. Found another one and again landed a nice one on my first cast into the hole.
Walked downstream and found a juicy looking eddy pool. Took a few casts and didn't get any hits until the 5th cast, where i got slammed by something but it missed the hook. Ended up being another brown that followed right to my feet and turned away. I took one more cast and got him, the biggest of the day. Pulled drag and took a few acrobatic jumps before I slid him into the net.
Nobody in any of these spots either. I jumped around a few other places to see if I could find a rainbow so that i would've caught the big 3 trout species in one weekend, but all of the other spots I went to were..... MOBBED. One spot had 8-10 people and social distancing was not happening. Be careful everyone, we don't want more restrictions than we already have! Despite this, I had a great morning in the woods exploring new water. Hope you and yours are healthy. Tight lines!
