Sat 4/8/17:
I decided to get a few things done in the morning and head out a little later, hoping the usual opening day crowds would subside. I started fishing at 12:30, and had this particular stretch of the river all to myself...not another person in sight! I had quite a bit of action, though my hookup to landing ratio left a little to be desired. I landed 4 out of 8 hooked from this particular stretch, and picked up one more from another spot on the way home. One of the rainbows was stunning, with completely chrome sides. Never saw that before in a NJ river. I guess the fish was a steelhead in training.
All trout were released.
Sun 4/9/17:
After a successful morning session catching nice landlocked salmon with Chrisper, it was such a nice day I decided to stop and do some more trout fishing (and retrieve a couple of lures I had broken off in a tree haha). I picked up a little brown right off the bat, then it was quiet for a bit.
I got to a hole in knew should hold fish. My usual lure drew a follow from a nice fish, but it didn't eat. Soon after, fish began popping the surface. I switched up my offering, and in a couple of casts hooked up and landed this fat, beautiful rainbow. After a quick picture, she was released back into the river.
