Salmon River Labor Day
Ok you crazy lunatics, here comes the unbiased Salmon River report.
Left on Friday night to make sure we be there early in the morning.
Got to Salmon River at 3am and for the hell of it when exploring while killing some time. River was full of crayfish and snakes, literally hundreds and hundreds of them (more crayfish then snakes but still) Oh and you could not walk 3 steps without stepping on some poor frog.
Anyways as soon as we were allowed legally to fish we were there. In 3 days we hit up pretty much every single hole (not counting dsr) that you could think of. Ripped my waders the first day but river was stupidly warm so ended up just fishing in shorts. Nothing. We got absolutely nothing and didn't even held one.
Now as far as others go, some did better than us and we did see some fish being hooked and caught while we were out. For those, who are like us and have no desire to fish paying areas, Jefferson area would be a best bet to go too. Finding the holes will be easy since they will be the ones with most people standing in one spot. LoL.
Crowds were almost non existent so it was absolute great time for us to be out. In a search for fish we hit up Oswego river as well and pretty much any shore access on the Lake Ontario from Sodius bay going past Salmon River and up north.
Hooked up to some smallies, fallfish, perch, catfish, brims and what not but not the fish we were after.
Neverless it was priceless to see two of my friends wading in Salmon River for the first time and letting me know how much their feet hurt trying to cross it at 750cfs. Suckers just give it a month and I would love to hear them then.
Tight Lines you all.
