Ran our first open fluke marathon of the summer with regulars Flukemaster Larry, Fred, Bill and Mike. Didn't fill those last 2 spots so sailed with 4 guys.
Fished local first few drops on sand were NG. Just a couple shorts, birds, and skates. Drift was horrible.
Then made a move to the nasty stuff and found some nice fish. The first keeper fluke of the summer season was Bill's beautiful 9# fish that was weighed and confirmed on a digital scale. After that it was a slow pick with a keeper here and there as we bounced around different pieces.
Finally around noon we had a few good flurries and really started doing well - best drift was 5 keepers - but, that was short lived as the light S wind that came up dissipated and we lost the drift. Only a few more for the rest of the day.
We wound up with 18 keeper fluke to 9#, 10 seabass and about 10 nice ling. Fred, Larry, and Bill each had limits - I even swung one up on the flybridge and got a 4# while up there as Joe had to net the fish LOL. Overall a very good "early" season fluke trip - hopefully this is a sign for things to come this summer!!
